about
Today, we proudly release Book of Hearts: one of a collection of songs recorded in the early spring of 2020 at Goat House Studio.
From the desk of Holly Miranda: “I was reading this Krishnamurti book called “Freedom from the known” over and over trying to wrap my head around detachment. “Freedom from the known is death and then you are living”, he says. I also had a book I’d been carrying around for a year that was mostly full of drawings of anatomical hearts. I wasn’t sure why, but I wanted to draw them over and over. The combination of inspirations brought “Book of Hearts”. “
lyrics
Mend one, break one
As above so below
It’s slipping through your fingers
The tighter you try to hold
So let it loose see how it spins
And dances in the light
Detach from desire
Exist in delight
Live and let it die
We live to let it die
It’s getting hotter every day
I can hear her knocking at my door
She says “Babe learn how to stay, Before you ask for any more”
I’m rolling down the road a spell
I’m rambling til the early light
I trust our love to work it out
I learn to sink and not to fight
I live and let it die
I live and let it die
No one said this would be easy
But nobody said it would be this hard
And if you’d stop a while you’ll see
That’s there’s no one here who can harm us
If we would stop harming ourselves
Mend one, break one
As above so below
It’s slipping through your fingers
The tighter you try to hold
So let it loose see how it spins
And dances in the light
Detach from desire
Exist in delight
